ESS

ESS - The European Spallation Source - is poised to become Europe’s flagship neutron research facility, advancing material science with cutting-edge technology. ESS will enable groundbreaking experiments to deepen our understanding of matter and tackle pressing global challenges in energy, health, and the environment. As a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) uniting 13 member states, ESS is completing its construction phase and transitioning to full user operations by late 2027. As one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today, our goal is to become the brightest source of neutrons for science and technology. A state-of-the-art suite of neutron scattering instruments will be made available to address a wide range of scientific fields in fundamental and materials science.

It is part of the project STEM UP, which is cofounded by the European Union and led by Region Skåne. The project is aiming at enabling green and digital transition for business life in the Skåne region by increasing the STEM-competence (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
